How do you feel about self-promotion?

Do you cringe?

Have a hard time talking about how your accomplishments translate?

Get tongue-tied?

Second guess how valuable your contributions are?

Worry that someone will think you are showing off?

However you respond, self-promotion is key to finding and securing opportunities as well as, inspiring and bringing others along.

This year, I am creating a safe space for others to build their self-promotion muscle (yes, self-promotion - like speaking, coaching, and networking - is a soft skill that can only be improved with use) by conducting one #IamRemarkable session per month at no cost. I conducted my first #IamRemarkable session the last week of January and preparing for it reminded me of how far I’ve come in my own self-promotion journey.

Similar to several participants I realized I can typically share my accomplishments with people one-on-one but it does get harder when writing and talking on my social media platforms. I ask myself: when does self-promotion become bragging?  Who even decides what is bragging?

This month I’ve spent a lot of time focusing on communicating my value (how I choose to talk about self-promotion) through my social media platforms - I share how my actions are directly related to my 2020 vision on my blog. 

What are you going to do differently this year to make sure you are connecting with the right people and demonstrating your value?
